Too often we underestimate the power of a touch,
a smile,
a kind word,
a listening ear,
an honest compliment,
or the smallest act of caring...
all of which have the potential to turn a life around

We forget how much
our love matters...
We think we travel unseen
in this world...
Actually, we are all acutely aware
of each other...

Light up,

Devious Comments
1. How long have you been taking photographs?
- Since Christmas 1965. Really.
2. Is your status professional or amateur?
- Mostly amateur. The few pics I've sold have come nowhere near paying for the hobby (but they are enough for me to claim it against tax
3. Why photography?
- Cause I can't paint or draw. And it's quicker
4. Has your art changed significantly since you started? If so, in what way?
- I bloody hope so
5. What equipment do you use?
- Canon 350D, with Sigma 17-70 and 70-300 lenses. Plus a couple of digi compacts and my dear old early-1970s Fed4.
6. What software do you use to fine tune your photographs?
- Canon Raw conversion and Photoshop CS2.
7. Who are you influences?
- Every good pic I see, and a lot of good folk on dA.
8. What inspires you?
- Wild creatures, big skies, mountains, woods, interesting buildings and medieval imagery. Among other things.
9. How did you come to deviantART? Why did you choose it to share your work?
- I was introduced to it by my brother *coshipi and rapidly absorbed into the community of some good people.
10. What do you find to be the most frustrating aspect of your art?
- I'm not as good as I'd like to be and sometimes kid myself I am. And I'm not patient enough, or well enough equipped, to take really knock-dead wildlife shots.
11. What do you find to be the most fulfilling aspect of your art?
- Taking a picture that pleases me, and getting a positive response from people who actually understand what I'm trying to do with it. It happens sometimes.
12. Pick five random adjectives to describe your work: Varied; observant; subtle; amusing; concerned. I hope those all apply.
13. What's the number one piece of advice you would give to starting photographers?
- Don't do it. There are already too many of us.
14. What's the most common mistake you see in your work?
- Just missing the moment.
15. What's the most common mistake you see in the work of others?
- Thinking that poorly composed, poorly taken photos of naked or part-naked people are in any way worth exhibiting as "art".
16. If you never see another photograph of (fill in the blank), you can die happy.
- A teenager smeared with fake blood.
17. Ideally, composition, colour or tone, perspective, lighting, and subject, should all come together to make a perfect photograph. Barring that, if something is missing but you still find the photograph good, what is the first thing your eye is drawn to?
- An image that tells me something I didn't know.
18. What is your favourite kind of photography to view? To take?
- To view: a good wildlife shot (NOT a zoo snap!) To take: a good landscape view you can only reach on foot.

4. Has your art changed significantly since you started? If so, in what way?
It's probably gotten worse
5. What equipment do you use?
Nikon bodies (D200 and D70) and a mix of Nikon and Sigma lenses, any filter that's handy and my trusty tripod or beanbag.

10. What do you find to be the most frustrating aspect of your art?
That I'm not any good at it

13. What's the number one piece of advice you would give to starting photographers?
Just have fun with it - there is no right or wrong.
14. What's the most common mistake you see in your work?
I'm multi-talented... there is NEVER just one mistake
15. What's the most common mistake you see in the work of others?
People are always trying to be somebody else with their photography...
16. If you never see another photograph of (fill in the blank), you can die happy.
a kid with multiple tats and piercings
17. Ideally, composition, colour or tone, perspective, lighting, and subject, should all come together to make a perfect photograph. Barring that, if something is missing but you still find the photograph good, what is the first thing your eye is drawn to?
erm... titties?
18. What is your favourite kind of photography to view? To take?
